Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Crankshaft Seal R&R

Removal

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove front tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove front fender liner.
4. Turn drive belt tensioner clockwise.
5. Remove serpentine drive belt.
6. Prevent crankshaft from rotating by install harmonic balancer holder tool No. J38122A, or equivalent.
7. Remove mounting bolt and crankshaft balancer. Discard bolt.
8. Remove front oil seal using suitable flat bladed tool.
9. Reverse procedure to install, using camshaft front main seal installer tool No. J35268A, or equivalent.
