Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Starter, Replace

1. Disconnect battery ground cable from battery.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove starter solenoid terminal nut.
4. Remove positive battery cable terminal from starter.
5. Remove starter solenoid wire terminal from starter.
6. Disconnect engine harness connector from starter.
7. Remove starter motor mounting bolts.
8. Remove starter from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
  a. Torque starter mounting bolts to 30 ft. lbs.
  b. Torque starter solenoid terminal nut to 13 ft. lbs.
