Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Stabilizer Bar, Replace

Front

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assemblies.
2. Remove rear transaxle mount.
3. On models equipped with soft or sport suspensions, remove steering gear assembly.
4. On all models, remove lower stabilizer shaft link retaining nuts.
5. Remove front stabilizer shaft clamps, then the shaft insulators.
6. Remove stabilizer shaft from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
  a. Torque transmission mount through bolt to 74 ft. lbs.
  b. Torque steering gear mounting bolts to 81 ft. lbs.
  c. Torque stabilizer link to strut nuts to 48 ft. lbs.
  d. Torque stabilizer shaft clamp to 37 ft. lbs.
  e. Torque stabilizer shaft link to stabilizer bar to 59 ft. lbs.
