Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Oil Pump, Replace

Removal

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain engine oil into suitable container.
3. Remove engine mount strut bracket.
4. Remove front fender liner.
5. Turn drive belt tensioner clockwise.
6. Remove serpentine drive belt.
7. Remove lower air conditioning compressor bolts.
8. Loosen upper air conditioning compressor bolts.
9. Remove oil pan bolts in sequence, Fig. 1.
10. Remove oil pan.
11. Remove oil pump and drive shaft extension, Fig. 2.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
