Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Shock Absorber, Replace

Rear

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
2. Support rear axle with a suitable jack stand.
3. Remove upper and lower shock absorber mounting bolts, then the shock absorber.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
  a. Torque wheel lug nuts to 100 ft. lbs.
  b. Torque lower shock absorber bolt to 81 ft. lbs.
  c. Torque upper shock absorber bolt to 66 ft. lbs.
