Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Exhaust Manifold, Replace

Removal

1. Remove exhaust manifold heat shield.
2. Remove oxygen sensor.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove manifold to exhaust flex decoupler mounting bolts.
5. Pull down and back on exhaust pipe in order to disconnect pipe from exhaust manifold.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Remove exhaust manifold to cylinder head mounting nuts.
8. Remove exhaust manifold, clean sealing surfaces.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque exhaust manifold to cylinder head mounting nuts to 106 inch lbs., in sequence, Fig. 1.
