Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Alternator, Replace

1. Disconnect battery ground cable from battery.
2. Remove accessory drive belt.
3. Remove engine harness alternator connector.
4. Remove engine harness terminal boot.
5. Remove alternator terminal nut.
6. Remove alternator retaining bolts and nuts.
7. Remove alternator from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
  a. Torque alternator B+ terminal nut to 15 ft. lbs.
  b. Torque alternator mounting bolt to 16 ft. lbs.
