Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Alternator, Replace

Disconnect battery ground cable from
battery. |
2. |
Remove accessory drive belt. |
3. |
Remove engine harness alternator connector. |
4. |
Remove engine harness terminal boot. |
5. |
Remove alternator terminal nut. |
6. |
Remove alternator retaining bolts and
nuts. |
7. |
Remove alternator from vehicle. |
8. |
Reverse procedure to install, noting
the following: |

a. |
Torque alternator B+ terminal
nut to 15 ft. lbs. |
|
b. |
Torque alternator mounting bolt
to 16 ft. lbs. |
|
Caution: Wear suitable eye
protection and heavy leather gloves when removing and installing pulley.
Do not remove or install pulley
with alternator in upright position.
