Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual / Electrical / Component Replacement / Neutral Safety Switch, Replace

1. Apply parking brake and place control assembly in Neutral. Transaxle manual shaft must be in Neutral position prior to installing range switch.
2. Remove shift control cable from transaxle range switch lever.
3. Disconnect electrical connectors from transaxle range switch.
4. Remove transaxle range switch lever nut and lever.
5. Remove transaxle range switch bolts, then the switch.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
  a. Install transaxle range switch alignment tool No. J-41545, or equivalent over shaft and switch.
  b. Rotate switch until alignment tool drops into position.
  c. Torque switch bolts to 15 ft. lbs.
