Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Neutral Safety Switch, Replace

Apply parking brake and place control
assembly in Neutral. Transaxle manual shaft must be in Neutral position
prior to installing range switch. |

Remove shift control cable from transaxle
range switch lever. |
| 3. |
Disconnect electrical connectors from
transaxle range switch. |
| 4. |
Remove transaxle range switch lever
nut and lever. |
| 5. |
Remove transaxle range switch bolts,
then the switch. |
| 6. |
Reverse procedure to install, noting
the following: |

a. |
Install transaxle range switch alignment
tool No. J-41545, or equivalent over shaft and switch. |
| |
b. |
Rotate switch until alignment tool
drops into position. |
| |
c. |
Torque switch bolts to 15 ft.
