Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Expansion Valve (TXV), Replace

Evacuate system as outlined under "Refrigerant
Recovery" in "General Service" on main menu selection. |
2. |
Reposition heater hoses for clearance. |
3. |
Remove evaporator tube block to Thermal
Expansion Valve (TXV) nut, Fig. 1. |
4. |
Disconnect evaporator inlet and outlet
tube block from TXV. |
5. |
Remove evaporator inlet tube from outlet
tube. |
6. |
Remove and discard sealing washers.
Cap off evaporator inlet and outlet tubes. |
7. |
Remove TXV to evaporator nut. |
8. |
Remove TXV from evaporator core. |
9. |
Remove and discard TXV sealing washers. |
10. |
Reverse procedure to install, noting
the following: |

a. |
Install new sealing washers onto inlet
and outlet tubes. |
|
b. |
Torque TXV hose fittings to
62 inch lbs. |
|
c. |
Torque TXV nut to 15 ft. lbs. |
