Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Ignition Lock, Replace

Lower steering column to lowest position. |

Remove steering column upper and lower
trim covers. |
| 3. |
Remove theft deterrent control module. |
| 4. |
Depress first retainer through lock
housing access hole "2" with a small Allen wrench or similar tool,

Lock cylinder will back out slightly,
then depress second retainer through lock housing access hole "1"
until lock cylinder backs out slightly again. |

Pull lock cylinder out enough to locate
second retainer to lock housing access hole "2." |
| 7. |
Depress retainer though access hole
"2" a second time. |
| 8. |
Ignition cylinder should release from
housing. If cylinder does not release, it may need to be moved in
and out several times to locate retainer correctly in hole. |

Remove lock cylinder from lock housing. |
| 10. |
Reverse procedure to install. |
